The Monster Mash July 3, 2008

I remember being very impressed by seeing David Warlick take seismic data from around the world, drop it into Excel, turn it into a graph, and then show that the graph was actually a pretty cool map of the world.
I wonder what will happen when the clever kids get time to play with the figures and data being released by the UK Government… especially as there’s a £20,000 ($40,000) prize fund for the best mash ups!
You can get full details of the competition at the Show Us A Better Way site, or the Beeb are carrying a report on the idea as well.
Now… how do I go about dropping Defra’s Carbon Footprint Data into Garageband so that I can mix it with the iTunes visualisation of Neighbourhood Statistics from the Office of National Statistics... the resulting trainwreck to be virally distributed via YouTube!
