Don't forget that many 'participants' were/are children and civilian women and men. The overwhelming majority of those who suffer and die in war are not combatants but innocent by-standers.
These should be remembered too, whatever their creed or colour.

What a great read this post is. Yet again, an insightful, clear and thought provoking post. I wish you were a Tech teacher and discussed issues arising in my subject area.

Thanks

I have been to Nepal twice and fully share Govinda's view about the importance of education for those children. It is a remarkable experience that need all our support. Lets share it with other friends at networks where we participate in.

Thanks Govinda for the example and best wishes to you and the childrens.

There are stories that humble us and make us realise how lucky we are this is one of them. To have the courage, conviction and passion to take these things forward prove that special people can and do exist.

Thanks for sharing Greg's session with us. It's almost as good as being there. I think the issue of sharing, or not as may be, is a long-term problem in the teaching profession. That's why some of the social media tools, such as twitter, have become so popular, as the give those who want to share have a ready and waiting audience. It's where you find so many like-minded educators, in that respect.

'children can use them surreptitiously under the desks to text each other instead of concentrating on the lesson…'
Weren't there similar worries about the pencil when it was first introduced in classrooms?
You're right to say that we are working still in virtually technology free zones and still technology is seen as separate to what is going on in most classrooms!
