We are not alone…

November 9, 2006

Mmmm… I thought it was getting busier! Technorati have published their quarterly “State of the Blogothingy” report, and it makes for impressive reading. Over 57 million blogs, and doubling (roughly) every 236 days…

I wonder if these figures might help schools take the necessity to teach and use blogs a bit more seriously?

A huge number, granted. Larger still when we realise that this is just the number of blogs that Technorati is tracking, as I suspect there is a great number outwith the scope of this radar.

What we need are the Local Authority administrators to sit up and take notice however.

I’ve got a chance to do this in PKC next Thursday. We are having an INSET for all 700+ secondary teachers in the authority to launch ACE. I’ve been asked to provide a pupil to take part in a debate on the motion “This House would scrap the Scottish Education system and start again’ (So, not too provocative!)

I’m getting one of my debating stars to propose the motion, and so we are currently writing four minutes of ‘Why you are failing the pupils, and why they need ACE… and especially, why they need to know how to use Web2.0’

Actually, I was going to post a draft of the speech this weekend to see if anyone wanted to add anything… might still do this!
